FM March 30, 2009

It's almost the end of March (hard to believe) and it's time for another freebie Monday...

This isn't a pattern, but If you use RedHeart's Super Saver yarn (guilty as charged), you will want to read this article about matching the dye lots. I didn't realize it was a problem but now I know.

I do have free patterns for bunnies and ducks but my older son would probably prefer this
sock monkey pattern. I'm not sure why he is so fond of monkeys, but he is...

SPeaking of bunnies, here's a bunny in a basket (and a chance for you to use your furry yarn)

I do like PlanetM's website, especially the guinea pigs, but we do have a major difference in philosophy - she believes her guinea pig is the cutest when I _know_ my guinea pig Angie was the cutest;) However, I do agree this is a cute duck pattern

When I was a child, a lady at church would make these (I guess she sold them - I don't know) and I found them so cute. I've never made one for myself, but I think I will this year....

Here's a pattern for Jiji, the cat from "Kiki's Delivery Service" (great movie if you haven't seen it)

This is really cute - Curly Bear pattern from "Crochet World" 1993

I had promised myself I would learn to do this when I was out on medical leave. However, I did not. But now I found a crochet on the double with cro-hook tutorial

This motif is called "sunny day" but it could be a flower motif if you changed
the colors..

Or if you want something more flower like, here's a motif for a blue flower

How about a mini chocolate bunny pattern

This project combines 2 of my favorite things - crochet and buttons, a button bedecked headband

Ready for a crochet egg pattern?

Again, buttons and crochet. I don't really care for a choker myself, but it could be adjusted for size.... the crochet button choker

A very long time ago, whne I had much smaller feet, little girls socks would be trimmed with embroidery or ruffles. This is not crochet, but just to give you an idea on how to spruce up your socks. You could buy premade socks and crochet on them.

The "crazy shell stitch" or I've also heard it called the "brick stitch"

And last but most certainly not least, a sunflower doily

As usual, I receive no economic stimulus for mentioning this sites. It's a good thing, too, because I'd have to declare it on my income taxes.

FM March 23, 2009

It's been busy at work, but more and more daffodils are blooming and I have seen alot of robins this week. So spring has finally sprung. So here's this week's edition of FM.

Let's start off with some culture - here's a crochet hook poem

If you make a lot of amigurumi, you might want a tutorial on invisible decreases

Here's a pattern for centerpiece and pussywillows

I thought this was really cute - a bird in hot air balloon

The Crochet Liberation Front gave out the flamies this week. I didn't receive one - must have been an oversight;)

and speaking of the CLF, here's the new winter magazine

Making a blanket for a preemie - here's a site with preemie blanket patterns

How about some crocheted chips (for National Chip and Dip Day) - sounds yummy...

And for kitchen duty, here's a crochet scrubby

And last but certainly not least, here's a crochet chef's hat pincushion

As usual, I receive no financial consideration for listing these sites.

I was underwhelmed by the response to the contest I had last week. No one entered, no one won. So if you just are the first one to drop me a line about the Annie's Attic kit of the month (see last week's post for more info), I will snail mail it to you. Otherwise, it's onward and upward.

This isn't crocheted, but still fascinating - a knitted digestive system

I've seen illusion knitting and I have seen an example or two of illusion crochet - but I thought this was the best example I've seen so far - it's a heart illusion square

I don't really know who or what a sack boy is, but I think he's popular with the younger set. But you may know who he is or you might just want to check him out:

This is from the book by Christen Haden, "Creepy Cute Crochet" - it's a mini monkey

Have you ever seen the Japanese flick "My Neighbor Turturo" ? If not, see it - it's a beautiful movie suitable for all ages. This is the makurokurosuke-soot pattern from that movie.

I thought this was pretty cool - a crop circles square

These are really wild ripple socks - I want to crochet these in some weird colors - a ripple afghan for your feet:

This is a very pretty "blue Jeans" shawl pattern.

I have to admit, I love bunnies - so here's a bunny fridgie pattern (or you could make it into a pin)

Or how about a bunny basket

Or what all bunny lovers need - a snuggle bunny

And to round out this week's edition of FM, two preemie hat patterns - here's a preemie ribbed beanie

And a textured preemie hat

As usual, I receive no special considerations for posting these links. I just think they are cool and I'm presenting them to you.

FM March 9, 2009

My leg is healed, my cold is almost gone and the daffodils are starting to bloom. Plus Noreen Crone-Findlay is back writing the blog "Hankering for Yarn" I am a happy camper:) So here's some articles and patterns for you today....

If you're like me, you can't resist a yarn sale. But what do you do with it after you bought one skein of this or that - here's some solutions (although it is in knitting terminology) to all that yarn
you bought at 40% off.....

I never worked a job where I could crochet while I worked. Maybe if I could crochet with my feet, I could. But I "keyboard" (type) alll day. Never leave your crochet hooks unattended or you might lose your job

Want to know exactly where your yarn is coming from? Want to be sure the sheep are being taken care of properly? You can invest in a share in a fiber farm. I'm sure it will do better than most stocks these days....

I've already said that I think "yarn bombing" is pointless. However, the world proves me wrong and now there's a book about "Yarn Bombing". I'm not kidding. Too bad they don't need a book about yarn all over the house, I'd have that one covered;)

It's National Crochet Month!

I forget about the threadies, but I don't mean to - here's a thread crochet edging for placemat

How about a crochet duck?

one good duck deserves another

And we're getting near the season for bunnies - here's a stuffed bunny pattern.

or how about Buster Bunny?

This is cute - a beaded crochet Easter bag

Marsmellow Peep (yes, there's a free one - look a little further down the page until you see "flat peeps"

These are just lovely - the tulip caps

and for those a little more summer thinking, a sunflower

Handbook of Wool Knitting and Crochet
Lion Brand has a new "crochet-along" - the "Moderne Jacket"

Saint Patrick's day is a lot closer than Easter - so here's a pattern for you:

Now it's getting a little bit warmer in my part of the world, I might consider this - a belted crcohet jacket

Two contests coming up

Contest for a crochet dvd - it runs until March 31, 2009.

This contest is a drawing for the "Annie's Attic Crochet Kit of the Month". Don't get excited - it's only for the first kit, a felted crcohet bag. It has a skein of wool, the directions for knit or crochet, and a button (no hooks or needles). To enter this contest, just leave a comment in my blog. I will have a drawing for the winner next Sunday and announce the name. Please make sure you leave an email where I can reach you.

No economic stimulus was given for these postings;)

FM 3/2/09

Sorry for the delay - I am up past my eyeballs in a head cold and surving on Claritin and Riccola - and lots and lots of hot tea...

This is not a pattern, but interesting all the same - a crochet Buddha

This looks like a cute gift for a baby girl -beaded socks for baby. You could also adapt it to an adult's soc.

The Art of Crochet always has somethinbg good - this time it's crochet cupcakes with sprinkles and a cherry by Art of Crochet

I thought this was really cute - a crocheted fish

If you have a thing about peanut people, (Not Charles Schultz's characters) this peanut amigurumi pattern is for you

Here's a brand issue of Crochet Uncut - Spring 2009 issue. It should be availabe today.

This isn't free, either, but Big Lots is having a sale on Lion Brand's "Homespun" and "Suede" starting on Wednesday, March 4. Nope, I don't work for Big Lots but I wanted to warn you if you see me in the store sneezing and coughing, you'll probably want to back away from me as fast as you can. You don't want this stinky cold.

As usual, no compensation is received. Right now I would take some big cup of hot tea that would get rid of this cold. (I shouldn't complain, this is my first major cold of the winter).
